What Actually Matters On A Drum Winch
Drum or vertical
A drum stows the whole rode on the drum itself, so nothing goes below deck and there is no anchor well to keep dry.
Free fall or gravity feed
EFF™ drops the anchor at close to free fall speed under control. Gravity feed is slower and simpler. Both are set up properly on every model that offers them.
Rope and chain
Rode length is roughly your deepest anchorage times five, plus half again. Chain length is set by how the anchor needs to lie.
