Installation and performance

Fits Your Boat. Drops Fast. Performs At Every Size.

12

Mounting orientations

Designed with versatility in mind, each drum winch can be positioned in up to 12 different orientations, allowing for seamless installation on nearly any boat.

100+

Metres per minute with EFF™

Combined with our EFF™ (Electronic Fast Fall) System, these electric anchor winches achieve deployment speeds exceeding 100 metres per minute, helping you drop anchor quickly and stay on schedule.

3

Series, one standard

Our full range of marine boat winch models, the CS™, SS™, and SSS™, provides uniform power and performance across different sizes. Regardless of the model, each drum winch is engineered to excel in marine environments, providing reliability and strength you can count on.

Engineered

Built For Harsh Marine Environments.

Every marine boat winch in our lineup is IP68 rated, incorporating a patented injection mould that fills air pockets in the motor, ensuring waterproofing and eliminating condensation risks. On Signature and Stainless Steel Series, the motor block is a solid 316 stainless steel casing with no covers or sleeves, safeguarding against corrosion and extending the life of your drum winch boat motor. Classic Series uses the same sealed, injection-moulded design in a powder-coated steel motor block.

IP68 Sealed Waterproof Motor

Every motor, on every series, is fully sealed against dust and continuous water immersion, built for marine duty.

Self-Locking Worm Drive

Holds the anchor under load and will not back-drive, standard across the whole range.

Oversized Gearbox

A generously sized gearbox spreads the load for a longer working life under strain.

Fully Submersible

O-ring sealed housings, rated for continuous submersion, not just splash resistance.

Injection-Moulded Internals

Patented, precision moulded components keep moisture out of the motor core and stop condensation building up.

12 Mounting Positions

Index the motor to suit almost any bow, on any of the three series.

EFF™ Fast Fall Compatible

Every drum winch is compatible with the patented, multi award-winning Electronic Fast Fall System, released in 2011 as the world's first clutch-free fast fall system, paying out rope and chain at over 100 metres a minute.

Solid Block Motor Casing

Machined from a solid block rather than a sleeved casing, adding strength where the motor meets the housing.

3 to 7 Year Warranty

3 years on Classic Series, 5 years on Signature Series, and 7 years on Stainless Steel Series, backed across Australia and New Zealand.

Emergency Manual Release

An allen key disengages the drum for a controlled free-spin anchor drop, backed by a hand crank in case power ever fails.

For maximum reliability, our IP68 motors incorporate an advanced injection mould design to fill all internal air pockets, preventing condensation, one of the leading causes of motor failure in the marine industry. With this added layer of protection, your winch remains free of rust and corrosion, even in extreme marine environments.

Condensation is one of the main causes for motor failure in the marine industry. When condensation takes hold, the water in the motor can cause all sorts of problems including rust and corrosion. To further combat condensation, our motors are a solid block casing with no covers.

Each marine boat winch model features an emergency release. With an allen key, you can disengage the drum winch, allowing free spin to drop your anchor in urgent situations. The hand crank option also provides a safe method to release your anchor manually if power fails, offering peace of mind for those venturing into unpredictable waters.

The questions we hear most before someone buys their first Savwinch drum winch.

Which series fits my boat?

Classic Series covers boats up to 8 metres and pairs a powder-coated steel motor with a 316 stainless steel drum and housing. Signature Series and Stainless Steel Series both run our full size range and suit anything from a trailerable boat to a larger vessel.

If you fish salt water heavily or leave the winch exposed to the elements for long periods, Signature Series or Stainless Steel Series will outlast Classic Series in that environment. Use our SavMatch™ tool for a model recommendation based on your boat length.

What is the difference between Signature Series and Stainless Steel Series?

Signature Series uses a 316 stainless steel motor and drum with a marine-grade aluminium gearbox, and carries a 5 year warranty. It is our most popular series.

Stainless Steel Series takes it further with a full 316 stainless steel motor, gearbox, and drum, and carries a 7 year warranty. Both run the same size range and the same EFF™ Fast Fall compatible worm-drive gearbox.

How much power does a Savwinch drum winch draw?

Voltage and power draw vary by model, larger models in the range are built for larger boats and draw more current. Check the specifications on your model's product page, or ask us before ordering if you are unsure.

How do I install a drum winch?

Each drum winch is supplied with mounting hardware sized to that model and mounts to a bow platform or bowsprit, with the motor set in one of 12 positions to suit your bow shape.

We recommend professional installation, particularly for wiring. Check our Backing Plates and Bowsprits collections for compatible mounting hardware.

What does the warranty cover and how do I make a claim?

Warranty runs 3 years on Classic Series, 5 years on Signature Series, and 7 years on Stainless Steel Series for Australian and New Zealand customers. International warranty terms vary by region, contact your local distributor.

Warranty does not cover uncontrolled corrosion, normal wear and tear, unauthorised modification, or improper installation. Read the full terms and submit a claim on our warranty page.

Why doesn't this page show a price?

This page covers the full Drum Winch range, so pricing varies by model, rope kit, and accessories. Open any product to see its price and configure the right setup for your boat.
